The Southwest
Trek to the Four Corners

February 16-24, 2002

Stacia and Kylie both had been wanting this trip for almost a year... even given the choice between this and Disneyland, they chose the Southwest. I hope they're remember it fondly.

I'm writing this months later (in May, on Kylie's birthday), so I'm not likely to say a whole lot. You'll get lots of pictures and a little bit of commentary.

Flagstaff
Area
It was cold in the area, it even snowed when we were here.

We visited:

Slide Rock

Montezuma Castle

Sunset Crater Volcano

The Grand Canyon It was still snowing when we visited the Grand Canyon...

The Four Corners We left the snow, but it still was windy and cold. The Four Corners was a bust, but at least they saw it!

Also, we drove through Monument Valley. I wish I hadn't been driving, I sure would've been able to seem more.

In the end, it was a big day of driving... we were all tired.

Glen Canyon &
Lake Powell
We had a fun day visiting the dam and going to the beach. It'd have been better if I hadn't gotten stuck. (There's a story here, if you remember, ask me about it.)

Zion National Park
This park could have been my entire vacation and I would have been happy.
I'll have to come back and spend more time.

Las Vegas
We spend a few days in the Las Vegas area. The first day we headed out to Hoover Dam.

Then, we bummed around Vegas. We visited the Rainforest Cafe, walked around to all the big hotels (well a lot of them), shopped at M&M World, and Stacia climbed the wall at GameWorks. On the way to the airport (at a god-aweful hour in the morning), we even took a limo!

Really, any of these locations could have been the entire vacation... I'll call this the sampler vacation. Now I know better where to come back to. :)
