Other FUN Places!!
June 28-30, 2003
First time camping at Birch Bay State Park... it's gorgeous. The first night, I watched the sunset... the second evening, the clouds played with the sun, creating some spectacular lighting and skyscapes. Of course, when it was time to pack up, the sky opened and it poured rain. Figures.

| Up to Camano on the lowest
tide of the year. The weather was beautiful and we got to see some awesome
underwater sights that are normally hidden. Isn't this just too cool? The sea star is eating the clam... right before your eyes! |
| July 14, 2003 Even though I've lived within 20 minutes of UW my entire life, I'd never rented a canoe at the Waterfront Activities Center by Husky Stadium... so it was about time. It was a nice day, without a lot of boat traffic. I took the girls out for a few hours. We went under 520 a bunch of times, saw several baby duck families... it was a nice, local, afternoon excursion.

It's been AGES since I visited Lake Chelan. My extended family has a cabin somewhere around here, and that's where I went when I was a child, but I don't even know where it is anymore. Anyway... with fond memories of my own and the opportunity to give the girls a taste of the lake... I jumped at the idea. :)
We stayed in a nice, early 80s decor 2-bedroom condo at Wapato Point. It was fun, and the condo had an outdoor ice rink AND an indoor swimming pool. The girls were in heaven.

It even snowed
when we were there (left, just built; right, the next morning)

December 4-6, 2003
I had to go home for a few days and do some stuff and take the girls back to school, but I came back... braved the pass one more time and everything. :)
| For these few days, I was
accompanied by my friend Karen who lives in Wenatchee (less than an hour
from the lake and on my way from Seattle). It snowed one more time while we were there... and we took a nice slippery walk.

| Stacia's snow santa after 5
days... just before I left for good.

| The drive out... I couldn't
help but stop and look back and take pictures. :) Thank god I didn't run out of gas! |

| This picture was taken just west of Leavenworth on Hwy 2 in the beautiful Wenatchee River valley. *sigh* It's so pretty there. |
