This is one of my favorite island getaways in the entire northwest. It's a brief ferry ride out of Horseshoe Bay, less than an hour out of Vancouver on the road to Whistler.
I was happy to share it with Paul on his birthday.

The day after Kylie's 6th birthday seemed like a good time to escape! I hadn't been to Canada for awhile so it seemed like a good idea. We had intended to maybe find a hike, but instead we bought a map and set out to get lost. We did find a prison center out in the middle of nowhere... it wasn't even on the map!

April 3-6, 2003
My first international ski vacation with my bestest long-time friend. We had tons of fun, harassed some cute Canadians, and came home without having made too much mischief.
The signs at the resort were hilarious and abundant. :)

Next to that, the weather was
splendid. We had three great days of skiing, an afternoon of snowshoeing,
and one night of 6 inches of fresh snow. :) Doesn't get much
better than this.

This was a very much-needed get-away. It's been well over a year since I took off any real time (more than a week).
We stayed at the Birds of a Feather B&B. It was very nice and I would recommend it. It's located on a little lagoon and from up the hill a bit, you can see Victoria and the ocean.
