"Friendship is a sheltering tree." -- Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Here are the branches on my friendship tree.

Mark Bourne is a writer of fine science fiction, born exactly one year to the day before me, thereby making his blond, blue-eyed self my twin brother by a logic only we understand. Science fiction readers and astronomy buffs, stop in here.

Carol Monahan and James Ernest were some of the first folks in Seattle to welcome me into their home, and for that reason alone will always have a spot in my personal Hall of Heroes. Visit Cheapass Games, and see what a brilliant and twisted game designer James really is.

Along with James and Carol, Phil and Kaja Foglio also made me feel at home in Rain City. Studio Foglio is the site where you can learn about their art and comics.

For reason as yet unexplained, Nick Fraser is keeping me regular company these days. His Lemming-like Web page can tell you all about him. Don't judge his personality by his photo; he's not a curmudgeon...well, he's a sweet curmudgeon.

If you visit David Honigsberg's Web page, you'll discover the only site on the Web devoted to a country-singin', fantasy-writin', guitar-slingin' rabbi. It's a kick and so is he. My life wouldn't be the same without him.

Every time I talk to horror author Mike Marano (especially when he recites German poetry to me on the telephone), he gets me thinking about the world in a different way...and it all started in a bar in Las Vegas lo these many years ago....

Margaret Organ-Kean is a terrific artist and a good friend. She and her husband Bruce have a lot to teach others about what being a good friend really means.

Way back during my days at Bantam Books, I purchased a first fantasy novel by a guy named Michael A. Stackpole. Through all these years, Mike and I have found ourselves working together on one project or another. Somehow the friendship has stuck, no matter what we worked on.

One of the benefits of living a skiffy life is meeting wonderful writers who have become dear friends. Kathy Tyers is among the dearest of those, and she writes one heckuva science fiction novel.
