MY SCI-FI KIND O' LIFE
It started with Creature Features on Saturday afternoons when I was a kid. It was so long ago that I don't remember a world without Forbidden Planet, This Island Earth or, last but certainly not least, Star Trek.

Then, when I was 16, I was introduced to a little gem called Stranger in a Strange Land, written by some guy named Robert A. Heinlein. Until then, everything I knew about science fiction came from the movies or from books about movies. Stranger took me down a path I never could have anticipated. Before I knew it, I'd spent most of my career as a professional in the science fiction and fantasy community, acquiring books for Bantam Spectra, sometimes by authors I'd grown up reading; writing fantasy and dark fantasy; writing book reviews; and teaching other writers about the business. These days I work for WizKids Games, editing books and fiction for their Web site. Yup, I'm living a sci-fi kinda life. (Pssst...don't tell anyone I used the term "sci-fi," okay? The politically correct term is "SF," pronounced "ess-eff." I don't wanna get in dutch with the SMOFs out there.)

But this page is the place where I get to drop any trappings of being a pro, and be a fan-girl out in public. So here it goes: To the right you'll find a list of favorite science fiction and fantasy stuff, which reflects more than a little bias toward friends and writers with whom I worked at some point (which is by no means complete and will occasionally be updated).
