The historic Warwick Park Plaza hotel (5701 Main Street, Houston 77005) is the TWS Gone To Texas Convention 1999 hotel. The rate is $105.00 + 17% hotel tax for single or double occupancy. Rooms must be booked before October 1, 1999, reservations received after this date will be taken on a space and rate availability basis. You are responsible for making your own hotel reservation. Reservation booking number: (713) 526-1991 - this rate will be given to anyone who admits he/she is with The TWS Gone To Texas 1999 Convention.Alternatives to the convention hotel do exist, in the form of the Days Inn on Main Street (approx. $45/single, $51/double) (Houston-Days Inn Downtown/Medical Center, 4640 S. Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002. 1-800-DAYS-INN) and the Patrician Inn, a Bed and Breakfast on San Jacinto ( approx. $80-$120) (1200 Southmore Blvd., Houston, TX 77004-5826. 1-800-553-5797). Both are walking distance from the Warwick Park Plaza.
Continental Airlines has offered our convention a 10% discount (Styled a 5% discount plus some sort of mumbo jumbo, totaling 10%) off the lowest published fares in 1999 from anywhere in the world when you travel coach. To avail yourself of this discount tell the agent our reference number is OB7VFT Z Code: ZBWO and book into Houston Intercontinental Airport. You may arrive as early as Oct. 17 and depart as late as Oct. 28 using this discount. Ground transportation to the Warwick is available at the airport, via a shuttle to be found in the transportation area. Cost is $17.00 one way.

So far, the Good Gnus competition (the Drone Rangers have Good Gnus set to music. We will give this music to any chapter that is willing to compete for best version -- although ours, which will be done in rounds is so fine as to boggle the imagination!) has three chapters signed up: The Drone Rangers, the NEWTS, and the Swedish contingent. More competitors are encouraged to sign up!
Cricket: A la Wodehouse in the Rose Garden of Hermann Park.
$12/person, includes catered food and soft drinks. Beer and wine coolers will be available for purchase.
Golf: The Sandy McHoots Golf Tournament at Hermann park golf links.
Prizes include a golf umbrella.
Special: Friday field-trip to NASA (really good for kids)
Friday field trip for Civil War and Texas history buffs to the San Jacinto
monument and thereabouts.
Games: At the hotel Friday while the golf, cricket and field trips are going on.
Play: Main Street Theater has agreed to stage a production of a Wodehouse play,"Oh, Kay!", Friday evening, October 22, 1999. Tickets will be $15 each.
Parties: Two cocktail parties. One on Friday, the 22nd and one on Saturday the 23rd before the banquet.

Sunday Brunch: The Warwick has the world's best Sunday brunch which
normally begins at 11:00, but will begin at 9:00 to accommodate our
members. Thus, we will be able to put on the feedbag together in
sumptuous style before flying home to our ivy-covered cottages.
