| 1999 TRAIL PROJECT WEEKEND |
Since 1994, the Friends of Crater Lake National Park have spent a weekend each summer performing trail maintenance on park trails. This year's project was construction of the Park Headquarters Historic Walking Tour in the Munson Valley Historic District. This 1/2-mile loop trail is the first new interpretive trail to be constructed in the park since 1963.
This is the third summer I've had the opportunity to work with these dedicated, hard-working "Friends" of Crater Lake. It is a pleasure, and an honor, to be associated with a group of individuals who care so deeply about this park that they give of themselves, not just a weekend of their time each year, but countless hours throughout the year to volunteer their efforts in helping to preserve and protect this national treasure. Not to mention - they're a lot of fun!
Below are a few photos taken at this year's project. Consider scheduling some vacation time at Crater Lake National Park next year and join in on the fun at the next Trail Project Weekend!
