On Saturday, April 28th, about 15 people from school (past students, current students, and staff) & I did face and body makeup for about 50+ performers at The Brazilian Carnival Ball 2001.

The Brazilian Ball is a $600 - $1500 a plate ($12,000 a table) banquet for charity. This year's charity was the Princess Margaret Hospital which includes five centers:

  • The Breast Cancer Centre

  • The Prostate Cancer Centre

  • The Wharton Head & Neck Centre

  • The Leukemia/Lymphoma Centre

  • The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre

Here Are pictures from our part of that event (the behind the scenes part).

Our stations, all clean and lovely, set up for the beginning of 5 hours of makeup hell.

Actually it was fun, but it was a lot of work.

Hmmmm… How many women does it take to apply gold body makeup to a muscled, hunky, Brazilian model?

I think the count was up to 6 at one point.

Here's the makeup that I got to apply to 2 of the performers.

Here's another body makeup. This one only took 3 or 4 women to makeup.

Here's John hard at work. John works at the school in the office.

Here's Marie hard at work. Marie is in my class.

Here's Soo hard at work.

Here's Iontha hard at work. Ionth has worked at school in the office, and has been a substitute teacher for our class a couple of times.

Here's Kyla hard at work. Kyla is in the 6-month makeup class that started in January.

This is one of the makeups that I also got to work on.

The picture below is Consola in her Brazilian ball makeup and costume. Consola is in my class, and worked on the makeup for the ball, as well as performing in it.

Consola being made up by Charlie Another person from the January  6-month class.
