Needed: Cool Cheesy Love Songs

I'm working on a Valentine's Day mix CD and need some help. I'm looking for cool, sexy songs, nothing too contemporary and good to slow dance to. What I have so far:

Burt Bacharach: The Look of Love and What the World Needs Now
Al Green: Let's Stay Together
Otis Redding: That's How Strong My Love Is (awesome song, I must say.)
Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind (not sure about this one but I have a cheesy weak spot for Gordon Lightfoot)
Marvin Gaye: Sexual Healing
Stevie Wonder: My Cherie Amour

I am a fan of standards, especially those sung by Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and especially those from 40s/50s musicals like by Rodgers & Hammerstein (Co has pointed out that in certain respects I am a gay man; I am just sorry that doesn't extend to sperm production). I am also an enormous fan of anything sung by Holly Near, especially her interpretations of standards with a big ol' lesbian wink. No, I did not fit in the world in the 90s, and I don't fit now. But, those are my suggestions. :-)

Asylum Street Spankers, If You Love Me You'll Sleep On The Wet Spot.

They are playing here in New York on Valentine's day, doing a show called "Love Songs, For and Against."

Yep. We're going.

I have a love song mix J made me, except I didn't know she had left it for me. I was working in NH this summer for a month without her, and my birthday was the day after she had left. When she got there a month later, we started to clean up my living space and she found it where she had left it for me. I felt like such a heel.

unfortunately it's in the car right now so I can't tell you what's on it.

I also like dorky things like muppet love songs (Never Before, from the Muppet Movie) and Birdhouse In Your Soul (TMBG)

Also, I played this so often J made me promise never to play it again, and under no circumstances was she letting it be our wedding song, but if you want to hear the most perfect love song ever, find the Spoon Song by a folk singer named Amy Fix.

Too late for V-day, but here are some of my faves:

Asylum Street Spankers, "Breathin'"

Four Bitchin' Babes, "True Love's Gonna Come Along"

Mary Chapin Carpenter, "Passionate Kisses" and "Shut Up and Kiss me"

Gail Davies, "I'll Be There"

Ann Rabson, "Love Song (Ode to George)"

Sweet Honey In the Rock, "Alla That's All Right, But" and "Down the Road I Be Goin'" (the second might be called "Big Round Moon." I can never remember.)
