Demolition Man is sort of like Judge Dredd meets Rip Van Winkle. In this flick, Sylvester Stallone
plays the supercop thawed out after several decades of being cryogenically frozen and incarcerated for
endangering hostages' lives. His task: find Simon Phoenix (played by Snipes) who is a psychopath who
was also released from "cryo-prison" to further the questionable agenda of the city's "leader." Along for
the ride are Sandra Bullock (Speed,Practical Magic), Denis Leary (Matchmaker,
Judgment Night) and Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order).
Ultimately, Demolition Man is a typical Hollywood action flick. But, the cast makes it a pretty
fun romp, if you can suspend your disbelief enough to accept the kind of dystopian society that serves
as the setting. Other than that, and the completely predictable ending, I found the movie to still be
enjoyable.
But, I still want Wesley to beat the crap out of Sylvester (nothing against Sly, you understand -- I just
like Wesley better)!
