http://www.facesfromthewall.com/ffwwaindex.html
Darilee Bednar has initiated a project to memorialize the 1050 soldiers from Washington state who are listed on the Vietnam Wall. Her goal is to have an obituary and photo for each one of these soldiers to post on her project website. There are 21 soldiers listed from Cowlitz Co., Washington. If you can help by providing an obituary, photograph (such as high school yearbook), or other biographical information for one of the soldiers listed, please contact Darilee. Darilee's project website is http://www.facesfromthewall.com/ffwwaindex.html (scroll down the page, and you will see a link to the Cowlitz Co. page, where the names and ranks of the 21 Cowlitz Co. soldiers are listed). Please contact Darilee if you can help.
Do You Know This Solider?
Darilee has asked Cowlitz Co. researchers to help with the following:
The following obituary appeared in the Everett Herald... it concerns a Washington State man who was flying a fighter to Vietnam and crashed... Recently, Congress is allowing men on Aircraft flying to or from Vietnam to be entered on the Wall... This might make it possible for Navy Lieutenant Wayne Allan Armstrong to be included on the Wall if his family can be located to submit his name.
"Memorial services were held in Longview Oct. 12 (1967) for Navy Lieutenant Wayne Allan Armstrong, 27, who was involved in an aircraft accident 8 Oct (1967) while flying from Subic Bay in the Philippines toward Vietnam in an F-4 Phantom jet. He was the brother of Don Armstrong, 2215 Merchant Way, Everett. Lt. Armstrong and (sic) air control officer, navigator and radar man, was one to (sic) two crewmen who ejected over the South China sea. Despite a two-day search, Armstrong was not found. He was born in Longview 25 Apr 1940 and was graduated from R. A. Long High School in Longview and attended the University of Washington and Linfield College at McMinnville OR. In addition to his brother, he leaves his widow, Priscilla, and daughter, Cynthia, of the home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Armstrong of Longview. (Everett Herald 1967)"
We need to find family who would submit the his name... Also need name of second man...
