I descend from the McAfees of Mercer Co., Kentucky. My 5th-great grandfather, Robert McAfee, was part of the McAfee Company of 4 brothers and other kin who surveyed the area of central Kentucky, and established Fort McAfee in what is now Mercer Co. Since beginning my research in earnest in 1995, the more I learn about my roots, the more pride I feel in the pioneer spirit of my ancestors.

This update is the third major update to my database since it was originally posted in 1999. I have tried to document my sources as much as possible (with a few lapses, unfortunately). What follows are family register reports for the descendants of John McAfee Sr. to eight generations. My line is: John Sr - John Jr - James - Robert - Samuel - William C. - Clark Roberson - Laura Alice.

While I have tried to be as accurate as possible in recording the results of my research, there will undoubtedly be discrepancies. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments about the research presented here. I do ask that if you note any discrepancies, that you please identify your sources.
