What
is FTP?
FTP
stands for "File Transfer Protocol." It allows you to move
files between your computer and the World Wide Web. Using
FTP, you can "upload" text and graphics to your Web page(s),
or "download" documents from the Web to your computer. Note
that you should use your Web browser, not an FTP client,
to download software from the Web.
If
you want to put up a Web page, you'll need an FTP client.
Check out our shareware suggestions for MacOS
or Windows
95/98.
Once
you have an FTP client, follow the instructions above for
How do I create
and put up a Web Page?, and refer to your FTP client's
documentation to find out more specifics about uploading
and downloading files.
