How
do I set up a "hit counter" on my web site?*
Option
1:
If
you are a Drizzle customer, e-mail
us, and we'll activate a counter for you.
When
we e-mail you to say that we have set it up, add this
HTML
tag to your page's code where you want the counter to appear
(replace "USERNAME" with your Drizzle User ID) :
<img
src="/cgi-bin/Count.cgi?df=USERNAME.dat&dd=F&ft=0">
If
you want an invisible hit counter (you want your counter
to continue to count, but be invisible to the user),
you'll
need to alter the HTML we send you slightly. Set the variable
sh=F in the HTML of your counter. It should look like
this (replace "USERNAME" with your Drizzle
User ID) :
<img
src="/cgi-bin/Count.cgi?df=USERNAME.dat&sh=F&dd=F&ft=0">
If
you want to further customize your counter, here's a helpful
page from the nice folks who wrote it.
If
you're using FrontPage to build your site, there is
a bug that may keep your counter from running accurately
on our Linux servers. In this case, please e-mail us and
let us know that you're using Front Page, and we'll send
you a special version of the counter.
Option
2:
The
following services will allow you to use their counter program
links in exchange for your e-mail address and some other
personal information. Additionally, most advertise their
service on your page. If you'd like to check out a few of
these services, we've linked some below. For a more complete
list, search the web for "free counter." Drizzle
does not endorse ANY of the counter services listed below.
Any harm done by these services to any users' files is purely
at the risk of the user.

*Of
course, if what you're actually interested in is
seeing and collecting information on how many hits your
page is getting (as opposed to having a graphic on the page
that shows a number to visitors), and if you have
a virtual domain name hosted with Drizzle (as opposed to
a web address like www.drizzle.com/~username), you can get
a detailed breakdown of that information from the statsform.
You can find that information for your webpage by going
to:
