How
do I get my web site listed on all of those search engines?
Ultimately,
it takes time, patience, and having a site that's worth
finding. For a thorough and accessible site with lots of
information on and strategies for getting listed, check
out Robert
Woodhead's site. (It also features his BaldSpotCam:
say no more!)
There
are a number of sites on the Web which purport to give advice
about how to get your web site listed with the various search
engines (Yahoo, Alta Vista, HotBot, etc.). They may offer
helpful information, but many want you to go through them
to submit your web site to the various search engines. One
informative site is submit-it.com.
(Note that we do not endorse this site or its advice.)
There
are also software programs that will send your site to numerous
search engines at once. These programs are not free, but
many of them will allow you to check them out before buying.
If you're using Windows, try here.
Unfortunately,
we haven't yet found a similar site that compares such software
programs for the Mac. If you run across such a site, send
us some e-mail.
