Below feast your eyes on Page 1 of the beautiful specimens of cathood that we frequently gush over in #catchat. When possible we have included a picture and a short bio of each cat authored by its devoted human.

This is Bait and Hook. Got two cats one named Bait and one named Hook, Bait we got after our other cat ran away when we moved into the new house, his full name is Musky Bait caus he was such a bad kitten we joked that's what we were gonna do with him if he didn't behave any better. Been same way for about 4 months now, don't think he's gonna get better. Hook was named because Bait and Hook kinda go together... blame my mom. We got him because a friend of mine was givin away kittens and we are used to having 2 cats so we made them a pair. No stories about them except that they both like to chase Bob (the iguana) and break things. This year is their first christmas tree and they're both not sure what to do with it. -- Ken Perchuk aka BassetSC
This is Bo, aka BoBo Kitty, aka Spazz, aka Bubby. He is most definitely the king of his castle. He found me in 1986 when I walked into work one morning and there he was. Some of the mechanics found him outside and didn't want him climbing up in the engines, so they brought him into the office. At the time I was seriously considering getting a cat, so this was just fate. I was thrilled and adopted him immediately. We have been inseparable every since. He's a well traveled cat, been across the country a couple times. Though he definitely prefers 4 paws furrmly on the ground :) -- Tammy Kilburn aka Tammee

This is Butterscotch and Chloe. Last summer my mom took my sister and I to pick out ONE cat. We went into a feed shop and saw two that we just fell in love with. My sister named the little 6 week old one Chloe and I named the 9 week old Butterscotch. We paid $20 apiece for shots, and took them home to a loving family after my mother called my dad to beg and plead for us to be able to have both of them . Chloe is a beautiful long-haired calico who loves to snuggle. She likes to taunt the dog when he's on his leash and can't get to her. Butterscotch, or Scotch as we call him, is beige and white with some white stripes running up his sides. He doesn't really like to be picked up, but if you are sitting down he'll sit on your lap and watch tv with you. -- Heather Bryant aka BonnyHthr aka Ceilyn

This is Camille. On November 4th, Christina and I lost our beloved Wheeze to kidney failure. She was only five years old, and we were extremely distraught. It was very hard for us to do much of anything with focus for the next week, as we really missed our unique Wheezie, a blue-cream Himalayan, who had a snaggle tooth and an incredible personality. We began a half-hearted attempt to see what was out there in the way of kittens. As we were getting Wheezie cremated, we were in constant contact with our vet. The vet kept mentioning that they had an abondoned cat that constantly reminded them of Wheeze and that the vet was thinking of us in our grief and wondered if we wanted to take the abandoned cat in. A week and a half after Wheeze had passed on, Christina came home on a Friday with Camille. She was a bit skittish to say the least, but quickly began to adapt to the house, happy to be able to move around after being locked into a cage for the last three weeks. It appears that Camille's original owner had moved and couldn't take the six to eight year old cat where she was going (left cat at vet on a overnight boarding premise but vanished, abandoning Camille). Camille was fairly similar in size and colouration to Wheeze, and a number of my friends were a bit confused to come over and see a cat they thought was dead. Camille was initially not a friendly as Wheeze, but quickly learned that Christina and I were her new friends and she started helping herself to our bed and the sofa for sleeping and scratching post duty. She thus received an early Christmas gift in a scratching post/perch that was placed next to the wood stove. Camille rarely moved for the next month. We could tell that Camille was probably not allowed on her last owner's lap at all, because we couldn't make a lap cat out of her. We soon learned that a blanket on the lap made us fair game for cat napping, and the three of use now snuggle on the couch together. Wheezie is the type of cat that can never be replaced emotionally, but Camille has found a place in our hearts and we love her dearly, happy to come home to her pleadings for more wet food and her kneeding tendencies on our blanketed laps. Camille has the peculiar habit of scratching at the stereo cabinet glass and meowing, as if trying to play with her reflection. This leads us to believe that she may have had a companion at one time and we will look into getting another cat soon if our summer work schedules allow for it. -- Rodney & Christina Hart aka Corinithia

This is Chubb. Walking by a petstore one day I saw a mini version of Mitzy and had to have him. That was in 1995 and since then he has grown into a cat the exact opposite of Mitzy. He has grown to 14 pounds of rambuctiousness and curiousity. Chubb enjoys people and constantly wants someone to entertain him. He loves getting into boxes, exploring tunnels and generally creating a nuisance. He also ewnjoys sleeping in strange positions as noted by his pic. Chubb's full name is Chubb Alarms after the security company as he always wakes us up at the same time every day. Favourite nicknames of Chubb include: Chubby, Chubber, Chubbola Virus, Chubblet (when he was a kitten), Little Hellion and Mutant Hellbeast. - Sherry aka etagem This is Diana. This is Figaro.

This is Flash a truly lucky cat, when he was a little kitty-cat, him and his siblings were put in a bag and dumped on the side of a road, but was found by a friend of a friend, and as this was just after our other cat had just passed away we
could give him a home. That was all in 1986 and he has been with us ever since.
Flash will eat anything that is offered to him some of the strangest being corn-flakes, pasta, mango, twiglets and he has even eaten ear wax(which I did not give him).
The pic is of him in his favourite hidey hole on top of our boiler. -- Jonathan Grieves aka Joffy

This is Ganni Gypsy Deguara Facts Sex : Male (unneutered) Obesity level : extremely thin, even though he eats anything in sight Weight : I still have to check, but probably about 4.5 kg Colour : Bright Orange Cuddlability : Unless he wants to eat or to get out of the house, he is loveable, even though he's not fat enough to be called cuddly Coat : Moderately soft, even though prone to scratches of all shapes and sizes, especially during the mating season Date of Birth : presumed 25 May 1995 Star Sign : Gemini Personality : Free spirit, gypsy, always wants to get out of the house even though he likes its comfort, also a great troublemaker, bites ferociously when annoyed, even attacks other cats who are twice as big as him ... but he rarely comes out without a scratch Motto : If anything limits your freedom, then bite. Life Story : Of unknown origin, Ganni appeared in our garden, a thin ginger kitten of 1 month with apparently singed whiskers. 4 days after he came to our garden, he got sick and my mother at first contrary to our keeping him, finally consented after seeing him. However he recovered, even though he's always getting hurt. In fact we don't have to remind the vet of his medical history each time we go... -- Michael Pio Deguara aka El-Moso

This is Indy.

This is Josh. Josh was a tiny kitten living in the local mall parking lot. He was visibly terrified and ran and hid whenever anyone tried to get close. Some of the shopkeepers tried leaving cat food out for him, but it quickly became covered with swarming fire ants. Two of the ladies told me they would take him in if I could catch him for them, so I managed to do just that by making "mom cat" calls to him. However, once the kitten was in hand, both the ladies changed their minds, saying they really didn't have room for a cat. So he became number eight in my menagerie. He was a VERY rambunctious kitten and I named him after the Joshua in the bible, because they both & "brought down the walls". He's now a big, cuddly guy, very sweet and affectionate, loving to give "kisses" to people, rubbing his nose on theirs. He's also a lazy lump, making up for his bouncy childhood, I guess! It takes some coaxing (and sometimes a bit of catnip help) to get him up and exercising. He's still terrified of "outside" and refuses to go near windows. -- ^jojo^

This is Kimba, born April, 1990. He is 8 years old, ten pounds, and a good portion of his body is fur. Kimba is my pride and joy. He is a copper eyed white Persian. I named him Kimba after the 60's Japanese cartoon, 'Kimba the White Lion'. The night we brought him home, it took him about an hour to get used to us, and the second time I called 'Kimba', he answered me. I was not a cat person until I got Kimba. I had always heard that cats were cold and aloof. I discovered that Kimba is the smartest, most affectionate, most devoted feline I could ever hope for. Warm, cuddly and sweet. But totally devoted to me. He shows little or no interest in anyone else who cares to try and pet him.

I continue to be amazed by Kimba's intelligence. He is much smarter than any dog I ever knew. And, I know you cat lovers can relate, he can talk. Everyone thinks we're nuts until they spend the night at our house. Then they can clearly hear Kimba, sitting in the hall, shouting what sounds awfully like "Dolores!" my name! He is so much fun.

In this picture, Kimba is sitting in a box that I received books in from Amazon.com. He crawled into this box and made it his home for the winter. Now that it is summer, he has abandoned the box. He now sleeps on the clothes hamper, in front of the fan. He is the kindest, sweetest person I have ever known, and I am happy to brag about him with my fellow cat chatters. -- Dolores M aka EleanorR

This is Maggie Adena. She has lived with Onyx and me since June 1997. She started out at the Humane Society but she shook hands with me and that was that. Now she spends her days running around the house with Onyx and causing general havoc. She has 2 paces -- full speed ahead and dead asleep! (In the pose above she is in her dead asleep pose.) -- Jan Buckner aka MegaCat This is Mitzy. Born in a barn in 1990, Mitzy is a timid cat that is frightened of everybody until she gets to know you. I aquired her from my mother who at the time had three cats and a dog and needed someone to give Mitzy love and attention. She quickly took over my house and became Queen of Everything. Mitzy enjoys sleeping, eating, going outside on warm days only, and well, sleeping. She is a gentle, lovable soul and always a lady, despite being a somewhat clumsy jumper. Favourtie nicknames of Mitzy include: Mitzer, Mitzery, Mitz Bits, Bar Mitzvah and Mitzibushi. -- Sherry aka etagem

This is Mox Jet. When we married, my husband didn't want a cat. He had several valid reasons for this: he thought he was allergic, he'd lived with cats that were not looked after, he didn't want the work. We'd been married 3 months, when I heard about a litter of kittens that were going to be destroyed. I talked him into just taking a look at them, and if he chose to take one, he'd get the pick of the litter.

The kittens had been abused by a preschooler who had already killed one of them before we saw them. It was difficult to get to see the kittens,
as they were terrified of people. In the end, my husband felt sorry for and took a tiny pure black female. He brought her home inside his jacket. Within 2 days, she was following him everywhere he went.

After about a week, he still hadn't settled on a name for the kitten. I told him he'd better come up with something soon, or she'd start answering to "Don't! Get down!" He'd been collecting cards for a game "Magic the Gathering" at the time.
A valuable set had recently gone out of print - the "Moxes" - named after precious stones. One of the stones was the Mox Jet - a pure black jewel. The card was one of the rarest of the set.

Our kitten didn't have a white hair on her person, even part of the inside of her mouth was black. So Mox Jet the cat was named after Mox Jet the Magic card. Most often she's just Mox or Moxie to her family, but she'll always be our precious rare jewel. - Jo FitzRoy aka Pookajo

On November 9, 1982 I was outside playing when I heard Muffin meowing coming from under an RV trailer. I immediately fell in love with the skinny little kitten that ran up to me when I called her. I took her home and begged my mom to let me keep her. My mom said no since we already had another cat. I wound up keeping her out back that evening. My mom called my dad, who was out of town on business, and told him how I had found a kitten but we weren't keeping her.

The next morning, she was gone. I sadly came to the conclusion that I would probably never see her again. Later on, while I was in my sixth grade class, I heard meowing coming from outside the window next to my desk. I looked outside and was overjoyed to see that kitten staring up at me. The
custodian let me keep her in his office for the rest of the day. That night, my mom talked to my dad again and told him how the kitten had followed me to school, and that we would keep her out back but she wouldn't be allowed in the house.

The next day I was off school for Veteran's Day. My mom took me to the grocery store later, and at one point I saw her put an extra litter box in the shopping cart. When she called my dad again that evening, she said, "Well, she's living with us."

That once skinny little kitten (which you can tell by the photo, she did not remain as such!) has been a joy to my family ever since. She is a very affectionate and loving kitty...and spoiled, my parents say. However, she deserves it! - Theresa Jennetti aka T-Jay
